Frequently Asked Questions

A relationship between the athlete, parent and coach to assess the mental skill opportunities for the athlete and work together to provide strategies and tools to help close the gap( to help the athlete maximize their overall performance in their sport).

By building a relationship with our athletes, we can help them stay motivated and focused and help them reach their goals. Some of these goals can include:

● Increasing their self-awareness and understanding of ‘what makes them tick’ as athletes and individuals
● Having positive attitudes toward competition, success, failure, and the role that sports and achievement play in their lives.
● Identifying mental and psychological areas that may be holding them back from their goals. (e.g. negative self-talk, fear of failure, afraid to take “risks”, etc.)
● Strengthening their mental “muscles” to enable them to be mentally prepared to perform their best in their sport and other aspects of their lives.
● Providing athletes with a “mental toolbox” they can use in their sports and lives.

What differentiates mental skills training from general sports psychology is its focus on reaching peak mental performance. Some areas of sports psychology can be problem-driven or focused on dealing with a specific mental problem. Sports mental skills training isn’t about getting over a problem, but more focused on getting better in your sport or competition. We work with our athletes to be proactive in their mental skills training so it doesn’t become a problem.
